12-Year-Old Girl Raped

MANASSAS ,Va.– Police say they have arrested a man for the rape of a 12-year-old girl.

Rape –
On November 25th, detectives from the Special Victim’s Unit began an investigation into a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred in the 7900 block of Meadow Ct in Manassas (20109).
The investigation revealed that on two occasions in November of 2013, the victim, a 12 year old girl of Manassas, was raped by the accused, a known acquaintance.
The accused also sent the victim electronic messages to facilitate the incidents. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
Arrested on November 25th:
Carlos Daniel CORTEZ, 30, of 7921 Meadow Ct in Manassas
Charged with 2 counts of rape and 1 count of using a communications device to facilitate certain offenses involving children
