Just to bring a dose of reality to you. In the USA in 2011, there were 8,583 homicides by gun.
That same year, there were 9,878 drunk driving fatalities. Each one, just as tragic and just as senseless as a gun death.
If you're not engaged in a criminal enterprise (drug dealing, for example), I'd bet your odds of being killed by a drunk driver are massively higher than being killed with a gun.
